I would be very interested in your research on the Isabela branch of the Abreu family. My father, Pedro Abreu, was born in Isabela in 1916. His father was also Pedro Abreu, and his grandfather was Francesco Abreu. I believe it was thought that the family originally came from the Canary Islands.

I have one of those family name histories that also says Abreu comes from a place of the same name located in the western Spanish province of Galicia where the Torre de Abreu is to be found. From Galicia the Abreus established brances in the provinces of Castile, Aragon, Cataluna and Andalucia. A major branch also settled in Portugal. I have no independent proof of this data however.

Good luck in your research and I would appreciate any info that you can give me from Isabela. Mildred
