I'm not sure how much help I will be but my Grandfather grew up on the ranch in Rayado as well. His name is Raymond Edward Abreu III. I know that many family members are buried in the Abreu cemetary behind the main house on the ranch which is now the Filmont(Philmont?) boyscout ranch. I will have to get all my facts together from my uncle but I too would like to know more. My mothers side of the family lives all over New Mexico. The story I heard was that the ranch was lost by my great grandfather and his brother because of fraud. His brother had a bad gambling problem. I will write more when I have more facts. I have heard the stories many times but I was too young to understand most of them. Hope to hear from you.
