This is very interesting as I have always wondered what happened to William Abrams of Pike IN. However, I think we are talking about at least two different Wm Abrams. I am related (distantly) to the Wm Abrams of Pike IN and have many many other Pike IN relationships. The Wm Abrams mentioned in Pike Co, IN is the oldest son of Joseph Abrams. They both came from Monroe Co, IN in the early 1850s. In 1850 they are still listed in Bloomington, Monroe Co, IN. Wm was born abt 1825 altho this varies a little in each census (1850,60,70). In 1880, his wife Mary lists herself as a widow, so I presumed he died sometime in the 1870s, but I have no proof on that and maybe Mary was referring to a previous marriage (Motes etc). The William Abrams mentioned in 1900 and 1910 census is about 10 years younger. I am not so sure this is really the same as the Pike co Abrams. In the 1850 census, reference is made to Wm living with a farmer in Pike IN. However this is in Pike twp of Marion co, not Pike Co itself. I have been very careful with those names because there is also a Marion twp in Pike Co. The same confusion happened in 1860 as there is a Wm Abrams in Pike twp in Marion Co and another in Monroe twp in Pike Co (mine) In 1870 "my" Wm Abrams is listed in Pike co, IN not in Michigan City, but that might be later in the year and still be possible. I will have to look at that more carefully. Ditto for the CW records. I hope my two cents helps. bye Notify Administrator about this message?
