Dear Melissa:

I am researching my Abrahams family as well. Let me give you a short version. Our family fable has it that one Rabbi xxx Abraham(s), from Manchester traded into the West Indies in the late 1700's and/or early 1800's. Apparently he owned property and the like. He sent his son Arthur to Jamaica to look after his interests. Well Arthur married a French Creole lady and raised his children RC. Now Arthur and his wife Adeline Madure are my great-great grandparents of which I have documents. My mistry is that I have no information on the good Rabbi - he's the guy I am looking for. As far as the McWhiney Abrahams goes - thyeir is another story that my family split - one half or part or what ever took the name McWhiney and my side Caryll. I'd be delighted to share what we know. Send me an e-mail at caryll@sympatico.ca and let's "talk". I have some interesting sources on this subject. Regards, David Caryll
