Carl Abraham, Sr., was born June 15th, 1859 in Wesseln at Heide Kreis, Norderdidmarsen in Germany. He came to America at the age of twenty-three and lived at Sheboygan, Wisc. for 13 months. From Wisconsin he moved to Kansas, where he lived one year, before taking up residence in Nebraska.
Here he was married to Marie Gierhan on August 29, 1889. After living at various places they made their permanent home 3 1/2 miles north of Utica.
Mr. Abraham died on August 4 at the age of 91 years, 1 month, and 20 days. He lieaves to mourn eight children: Carl, Jr., of Utica, John of Beatrice, Chris of Humboldt, Fred of Cordova, Mrs. Emma Patterson of San Francisco, Mrs. Louis Zwick and Mrs. Anna Neben of Lexington, and Mrs. Bertha Wiemer of Waco. The wife and mother was laid to rest 12 years ago. Two children also preceded him in death. There are 28 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Mr. Abraham of late has made his home at the Green Convalescent Home at 6th and Beaver in York. He was of fair health, being able to be out on the streets this winter, but failed rapidly of late.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Carpenter home and at Immanuel church at 2:00
We wish to thank our many friends and relatives for their sympathy and for the acts of kindness shown us during the death of our father. We also thank Rev. Bliss for the comforting words, Miss Ruth Bliss for singing, the Ladies Aid for serving lunch. All this will be greatly appreciated. Abraham children.
