I am new to the ABNER/ABNEY line when I discovered that my Grandmother Delia BRANDON'S mother had the name of Polly Jane ABNER. She had married Marian SOWELLS in Marion, Illinois on 12 Nov 1879. I have a copy of the marriage license from the county of Williamson. The reverse side states that the Groom's fathers name was: John W SEWELLS and the mothers name was: Harriett E. HENSON. The brides fathers name was George W. ABNER and the mothers name was Nancy Jane BOATRIGHT. I have a small conflict that I have to get solved.
I wrote to Saline county, Illinois to check on marriage records and I received a copy ;of the record of James W. ABNEY and Miss Nancy J. BOATRIGHT being wed on 10 May, 1860. William ABNEY is registered as the Justice of the Peace. This entry is #471 in the record books. The ages of the two men, James W. ABNEY and George W. ABNER are close. I need help in getting this one straightened out.
Jim
