Joshua Abney m. Patsy Phelps 1795 in Green co, KY. They had children: Rebecca, Paul, Silas, William. Rebecca m John Chancellor in Butler co 1812, moved to Martinsville, Clark co,IL in 1830. Paul married Beasley and stayed in Butler co. Joshua, Patsy, William, and Silas moved to Martinsville also. Silas m. Aseneth Martin there. In about 1837, Joshua, Patsy, and Wm moved to Posey co IN, left some descendants there, don't know who. Joshua and Patsy then moved to Jeffeson co, IL. Possibly your William is related. Contact Gina Abney, this forum. Her Abneys are from IN.
