They had a daughter, Rebecca Abney, b 9 Feb 1796. She married John Chancellor in Butler co. 5 Aug 1812. He is listed in the Butler county tax records, 1813 to 1828. In 1829, they are in the Martinsville, Clark co Illinois, where they stayed. John's son David married Eleanor Auld, said to be Kickapoo indian. They were my great great grandparents.
I have much circumstantial evidence indicating a David Chancellor was his father. A David married a Margaret Phelps in Green co in 1793.
Joshua Abney married Patsy Phelps in Green co 6 May 1795, was taxed in Warren co January 1800, and in the 1810 census of Butler co. In the 1830 census, Joshua and Patsy are in Clark co, IL, with the Chancellors. In 1838, Joshua and Patsy of Posey co, IN sold the last piece of land in Martinsville. A Joshua with the right sons, is in the 1840 census of Jefferson co, IL. He d 1844 and is buried in the Abney graveyard there.
The Abney Registry disputes that this Joshua is my Rebecca Abney's father. I am sure that I am right. Joe Myers jmyers@fastrans.net STL MO
