I was born and raised in Shreveport, Bossier Parish, and my McDade ancestors intermarried with the Abneys of Edgefield District, South Carolina, who migrated to Bossier Parish. My great-great grandfather, Pierce Mason Butler of Edgefield District, bought plantation lands in Bossier Parish in 1840; his son, Capt. Andrew Pickens Butler (my great-grandfather), and his brothers lived on P. M. Butler's Louisiana plantation when they migrated to Bossier Parish after the Civil War. Numerous other Edgefieldians followed P. M. Butler's suit and migrated to Bossier Parish.

Francis Marion Abney of Natchidoches, Louisiana was one of Asbury Arnold Abney's two brothers; Asbury, of Edgefield District, was the one who married the McDade.

If you would like any further information, please let me know.

Betty McDade
