You are 100% correct, regarding all these Abneys. I am descended from Sabina Abney, b. 1801, d/o John, s/o Capt. Nathaniel Abney. Sabina married George D. Dean, b. 1791, in Edgefield Co., circa 1818. This entire family, except for the first two children, (Mary, b. 1818, and Margaret, b. 1820) moved in 1830, first to Newton Co., GA, and then to Chambers, Clay, and Coosa Counties, AL.

Three sons of Capt. Nathaniel (John, Paul, and Azaraiah) married Pope women, while James married his cousin, Maacah. John was first married to Rachel Elizabeth Lark, who died in 1793.

The Deans were from Henrico Co., VA, also, and the patriarch, Richard Dean, was brought from England to VA in 1714, by John Bolling, s/o Robert Bolling and Jane Rolfe (Pocahontas' grandaughter).

The Deans and Abneys moved along from Henrico, to Halifax, VA, and then to
96 Dist., SC, where Nathaniel had a 1766 deed, in present day Laurens Co.

Nathaniel Abney, William Dean, (my ancestor) John O'Neal, Hollingsworths, and others from SC, bought land in Wilkes Co., GA, in Sep. 1773, and are seen in The Wilkes County Papers; Ceded Lands Journal, page 7, of the Settlers List. I'm sure that a lot of these people had multiple land holdings, and were involved in land speculation, to various degrees.
