John Joseph Abney, 1895, Mobile, Al

I'm looking for information on my grandfather John Joseph Abney. He had two sons with wife Pauline Stien, Wilmer Henry Abney and John Joseph Abney Jr. John Jr. was born about 1921 and died about 1964.

My father, Wilmer "Bill" Henry Abney, was born in Hammond, La on August 26, 1920 and died September 28, 1990. Bill's birth Certificate indicates that his father John Joseph Abney was 25 and from Mobile, Alabama, making his birth year 1895.

John Sr's sons Wilmer and John Jr Abney were raised by their Uncle "Victor Stein" when their mother Pauline died. I've heard my grandfather John Joseph Abney Sr, left to Mississippi, and originally took the boys with him, but they were brought back by their aunt. I now understand my Grandfather was remarried, as I've met Fred Abney, from Mississippi, who was born in 1928, who was looking for information on his father, John Joseph Abney, who had had two sons "Wilber and John Jr" that were apparently taken back to Louisiana by an aunt before Fred was born.

John Joseph's wife Pauline Stien was the Daughter of Ralph Stein and Amelia Geiger, both from Germany. Her family had 7 children; Dora, Laura, Mae, Violet, Ralph, Victor and Pauline.

All I know of John Joseph Abney is that he was born around 1895 in Mobile, Alabama and had a younger sister named Birdie who lived in New Orleans.

Any and all information about my grandfather would be helpful. My email address is paul.abney@gmail.com.
Thanks,
Paul Abney
