You may email the following:
Edgefield Gen Society.... Tompkins Library.
Ask for Dr. Connie McNeill, Carol Bryan or Tonya Browder.
They would be able to get those records for you for a fee.
contact: hhtp://www.oedgs.org and then contact them to help you.
There was a Rebecca Abney m. John Brooks who was daughter of Samuel Abney m. Martha Harriett Hamilton in Edgefield.
There was a George Abney, son of Dannett m. Cassandra, who married Sally Griffin(iths, iths)also in Edgefield.
John Chapman did make some mistakes in his book. Tompkins has those corrected in the new addition just printed. For instance on p. 41...he incorrectly stated that it was "Dannett Abney met with a tragic fate".....that is not so...it was Samuel Abney m. Martha Harriett Hamilton.
The will of George m. Unity had a Rutherford associated with the will in 1766, Halifax Co., Va. He either witnessed or tested to will.
You need to get all of the documents you can to get this straight....contact Tompkins. They will help.
