On www.GenealogyBank.com, there are four pages about Captain Nathaniel Abney. They were printed in The State newspaper, which I think, is in Columbia, S.C. The article was written by a unknown female descendant and published on June 25, 1916.
The article covers much of his military service, his land grants, Bible record and other pertinent info.
Most importantly, the article sheds light on his lineage; especially that his father was Dannett Abney, Jr., of Hanover County, Virginia on back through to his fourth great grand father, Edmund Abney of Leicester, England. His grandfather, Dannett Abney, Sr., migrated from England to Virginia with his stepbrother, ____Lee. Dannett's (Sr.)father, George, died and his mother married: Reverend Joseph Lee who had ____Lee from another marriage, etc.
This is not my lineage but think that anyone who is researching N. Abney would be interested. I cannot print the article as it is copyrighted.
