My John Abney (married Martha "Patman" Puckett, dau of John & Lucretia ____ Puckett), married in Amherst Co, VA in late 1700's; Celia Puckett King (wife of Major King), sister to John Abney's wife, Patman, also married in Amherst Co, VA, and was listed as being born in VA on 1850 Estill Co, KY Census; some of the Abney family may have split off and went to SC, but mine were directly out of VA, but where before that is still a mystery to me...hope this answers your question...Diana Covey Frymyer Mussaw
