I need help ..... BIG TIME ,,, please. I am trying to see if their is a connection between James D. Abney & his wife Tabitha Towles Abney and my 3rd great grandmother. They were both born in S.C. according to the Chambers County, Alabama 1850 census. They lived there with one of their daughters, Elvira. I have found them in Edgefield County (1820 Census) with eight children (4 boys & and four girls). All of the web sites I have visited do not identify ALL eight children. No one I have seen can name all four of the girls. I believe, one of the girls to be named Sophronia (possibly Sophia) who was born about 1805 in South Carolina. Sophronia married Samuel Eskridge Brown (also of S.C.) in August of 1824 (place unknown). My belief is that she may be James and Tabitha's child. The basis of my belief is that Jas. & Tabitha lived 7 households away from Samuel and Sophronia in the 1850 Chambers County census. Sophronia & Samuels also named their first born James. I know it may sound kinda flimsy but the geographic and temporal proximity issues are just too interesting. Can anyone help me out???
Thanks Dan
