I didn't read the document that Elisha died of smallpox, simply that he once had the disease and never recovered. Not knowing how the disease will affect a person, I supposed that he continued into later life with some infirmity caused by smallpox. Not everyone who contracted the disease died of it. My sister had it when a very young child; she is now age 69 years. Elisha at the time of the writing of the document in 1820 is eleven years old.

I am descended from William ABNER, but I haven't been able to discern which William. My great-grandparents are William ABNER(b/abt 1828)/Sarah Ann ROSE (very reasonably sure); g-g-grandparents are William ABNER (b/abt 1807)/Jane HENDRICKS (I think); g-g-g-grandparents are Elisha ABNER (b/abt 1783)/Nancy(?)(I think, I think). Can you help me on this?
