My father was Harry Ablett born in Todmorden, Yorkshire February 1, 1913. His father was Henry Phillip and his mother was Mary. They had seven kids (Hilda, Ethel, Harry, Henry, Fred, Edith and Eveline) and emigrated to Canada in 1923. They lived on Broad Street, Todmorden. However, Henry and Mary were born in London, can't recall the exact date but they are both buried at St John's Norway Cemetery in Toronto, Canada. My dad died in 1971 and is buried in Pine Hills Cemetery in Toronto. All of the brothers and sisters are deceased and buried in Toronto. I can find out the date of birth and death of them next time I check the cemetery. As far back as I know, they were English. My great-grandfather was a miner and was 42 when he died.
I was told that Ablett was a French name, originally spelled Ablette, and meant "little fishes".
Any more info would be a great help.
