A book on Alfred Ablett VC was published c1977 and called 'Through Hell to Immoratality' and written by Major Frank Clark and published in paperback form by the Granadier Guards Association (Suffolk Branch) and in 1997 it cost 5.50 including postage and packing (within the UK) from

In 1997 the teleohone number was 0149 741126 (England)
C A Dearing was the branch Secretary of the Grenadier Guards Association

The book gives the following information
Son Alma Samuel Ablett born 1860
Same year a second son born Alfred Inkerman Ablett (Alfred died in 1861)
He married (1) Caroline Emma, daughter of James Wheeler in 1856. She died of TB 14 SEP 1861
Married (2) Sarah, daughter of Charles Pearce, at Harleston
The 1881 Census gives details of four children
There is a large amount of family tree information in the book and well worth purchase of a copy.
My interest in him is the Victoria Cross
