Hello to all, I'm hoping maybe someone will be able to help me find the actual name of Hiram Ables, and who his parents and sibblings were. Below I wrote down some info I'm going on, but can't go any further. Would appreciate any input you may have. Thanx, Ricky Ray Rasco In the 1930 Federal Census of Hall Co, TX, there is found the following Ables families: Family I: Ables, John T. - Head - 48 - Texas -----, Delia - Wife - 46 - Tennessee -----, John E. - son - 13 - Texas -----, Nellie R. - daughter - 8 - Texas -----, Joe H. - brother - 42 - Texas (wouldn't this be Joseph H. Ables in 1900 census?) Moyers, James E. - fatherinlaw - 72 - Tennessee ------, Mattie P. - motherinlaw - 66 - Tennessee Family II: Ables, James O. - Head - 26 - Texas -----, Ora L. - Wife - 29 - Texas -----, Naomia R. - daughter - 3 - Texas (Her full name should read "Naomi Ruth Ables") -----, Willie B. - daughter - 1 - Texas (Her full name should read "Betty Willene Ables") In the 1920 Federal Census of Hall Co, TX, there is found the following Ables family: Ables, John T. - Head - 38 - Texas -----, Delia - Wife - 36 - Tennessee -----, Ruby - daughter - 18 - Texas -----, James O. - son - 16 - Texas (James Oscar Ables is his full name) -----, Lonnie W. - son - 12 - Texas -----, Lavina - daughter - 8 - Texas -----, John E. - son - 3 - Texas In the 1910 Federal Census of Denton Co, TX, there is found the following Ables family: Ables, J. K. - Head - 29 - Texas (notice the mistake, it should be J. T. for John Thomas) -----, Delia - Wife - 26 - Tennessee -----, Ruby - daughter - 9 - Texas -----, Oscar - son - 7 - Texas -----, Lonnie - son - 2 - Texas In the 1900 Federal Census of Hunt Co, TX, there is found one "Hiram? Ables" and his wife and kids. Below is my interpretation of the census. I know that you can't say for sure that John T. and Joseph H. are the same as in the 1910 census, but what are the odds?? Their ages definately match. And their father as stated in the census, is from Illinois, and mother from Texas.) Ables, Hiram - Head - 57 - Illinois -----, Charlotte - wife - 45 - Texas -----, Olivia C. - daughter - 21 - Texas -----, John T. - son - 19 - Texas -----, Nellie M. - daughter - 15 - Texas -----, Joseph H. - son - 13 - Texas -----, William M. - son - 8 - Texas We'll have to skip the 1890 census because it was destroyed in the fire at the Commerce Department in Washington, DC on 10 January 1921. In the 1880 federal census of Hunt Co, TX, the following Ables family is recorded: Ables, H. - Head - 37 - Illinois (could this be the same Hiram?? If so, then why in this census is it stated that his parents are from VA, and in the 1900 census from Alabama & Kentucky? Notice that both the 1900 census and the 1880 census are both of Hunt Co, TX. What are the odds??) -----, C.A. - Wife - 24 - Texas (could this be Charlotte in 1900 census? If so, why in this census is it stated that her parents are from MO & Ind, and in the 1900 census from Alabama & Illinois??) -----, Charlie - son - 3 - Texas (is Charlie adopted? The census reads his parents are from Texas & Montana) -----, O.C. - daughter - 1 - Texas (could this be Olivia C. in 1900 census?) Rhoads, E. - mother - 67 - KY (Was Rhoads Hiram's biological mother? She WAS born in KY as stated in the census. Could she have been Charlotte's mother?) In the 1870 federal census of Franklin, Newton, Missouri, the following Ables was listed: Ables, Harman? – 28 – Illinois (listed under the family of Carpenter, Benjamin A.) In the 1860 federal census of Hinds, Mississippi, the following Ables was listed: Ables, H. – 19 (listed under the family of A.B. Brown) Notify Administrator about this message?
