Sir Robert Abell married Jane Sutton sister of Thomas Sutton one of the wealthiest men in England In 1543. The name Robert had not been a part of the Sutton tradition before then, since they had fought with Wallace(Wlls) and had always fought against the Bruce line. Jane is an honored name in the Sutton family.Several Sutton/Ables marriages were recorded in the colonial histories. Even more interesting is the fact that Richard Chumleigh(Sir)KG married the daughter of Jane and Robert he is the progenitor of the American Chumleys Robert comes into the line here also.
