Abler's from Rimpar, Bayern, Germany

Just back from LDS library in SLC and found out my GGF Edmund Abler was actually 'Kaspar' Edmund Abler b. 1866 to August Abler and Sabina Schoemig. August is listed in the Rimpar church records as having a mother (Elizabeth Abler) but no father. The lady helping me with this research said this would indicate he is illegitimate. This is as far as the Nebraska Ablers can be tracked. Any help would be greatly appreciated?! There is a Caspar C. Abler, age 16 traveling on the ship Main from Bremen arriving March 6, 1882 to NY. This could be a transcription error with the middle initial (C. for E.?) I'm sure this is my GGF. The page microfilmed of the Rimpar Catholic church record book with the Ablers on it is very poor microfilming. I'm at a dead end...help please?
