Found this obit in the book: PAGOSA COUNTRY: THE FIRST FIFTY YEARS by John Motter
ABEYTA, ANTONIO - Antonio Abeyta, 77 was one of the pioneers who came with ox teams to Animas City in 1877. He passed away in a local hospital Tuesday afternoon at 4:30, says the Durango News. Mr. Abeyta was born in 1857 in Taos, NM, coming to Animas City to make his home whe he was 20. Later, he lived in Bayfield, Yellowjacket, and at Rosa, NM. His only son is E.J. Abeyta of Grand Junction. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Henry Chavez of Arboles. Buried at Rosa. date of obit April 20, 1934
