I am researching the Abernathys in and around the Tx area...though i know they came from AL and GA as well.
what i have so far is this:
Unknown Abernathy, born abt 1858, GA, death aft Oct 2, 1878
married Lucretia Adaline Witt(was married to a John Witt), born Jun 1835, TN, death bef 1910.
Children from this union: Robert Lafayette, born Oct 2, 1878, AL, death May 13, 1937, Childress, Childress Co. TX married(Oct 4, 1903)
(1)Elvire Howren, born Jul 1885, AL, death bef Sept 1918.
Children from this union: George Burnett, born Feb 8, 1905, death May 2, 1991, Los Angeles, Downey CO CA and Hollis Ray, born May 10, 1913, TX, death oct 19, 2000, Levelland, Hockley CO TX.
(2) Mona Vena Simpson, born 1888, Sulphur Springs TX, death unknown. Children from this union: Artie Lafayette Abernathy Sir, born Nov 25, 1920, death Jun 2, 1979, Tyler, Smith Co TX married(Nov 1939) Doris Jean Hamilton, born about 1920, death unknown. Children from this union are: Robert Samuel, born May 25, 1946, death ? and a daughter. (2) Sheryl Irene Rice, born unknown, death unknown. Children from this union are: Artie Lafayette Jr, born Dec 1, 1948( this one has been married 3 times and has a total of 4 kids, but i am working on this line for his last born g'child.
any help would be greatly appriecated
