Nancy Abernathy Perkins, NC

I become distinctly annoyed when people post bad data to the internet and then disappear, leaving behind a nasty legacy that is increasingly difficult to correct. Despite many poorly researched online databases, the Nancy Abernathy who married John Perkins Jr on 26 Jun 1817 in Lincoln County NC [src: Bynum's "Marriage Bonds of Tryon and Lincoln Counties, North Carolina", p. 98] was *NOT* a daughter of David Abernathy Jr & Christina Forney but was, instead, a daughter of Turner Abernathy & Louisa "Dicy" Abernathy: Turner was one of David's brothers. David, Christina and all their children had left North Carolina for central Tennessee prior to August of 1808, and I do not believe they would have left even a teen-aged daughter behind. David & Christina's eldest daughter married in Nashville in Oct 1809, and he was listed on the 1811 Maury County TN tax list. Later writings of children of David & Christina clearly list all nine of thier children, and spouses of all but Milton who never married. Nancy Abernathy (later Mrs John Perkins Jr, of Burke County NC) is *NOT* listed among them!
