I am trying to find out about my husbands great grandfather his name was John Abernethy born 23/5/1878, Horsewater Wynd, Dundee, Scotland.
He married Agnes Kidney in Dundee on 1/1/1897.
They had at least one son Thomas born 1/7/1901.
We believe he left his family and went to America possibly New York. They never heard from him again. We are tracing the family tree and would like to find out what happened to him. He was seaman by trade we think.
If anyone can throw some light on him that would be great.
