Possibly the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill -- the UNC library sytem has several special collections about the Abernethy/Abernathy family. Since Rutherford College -- in Rutherford College, NC -- was founded by Robert Laban Abernethy, and he was the first president -- there is a connection to the North Carolina University/College system, as well as the founding of the community that grew up around the "old hollow school".
I am curious about the documents you mention.
I have documents that show/tell the burial sites of several Abernethy/Abernathy individuals in Jacksonville, Alabama's local cemeteries.
