Long Shoals is right on the border between Lincoln and Gaston Counties, and both have excellent volunteers who've done extensive cemetery research, so I may already have them but in a "not yet connected" folder.

The spelling of Abernathy versus Abernethy seems to be a matter of decision, and I've run into some families where some of the children decided to go with one spelling and some of their siblings chose the other.

I, personally, am at least 7 generations removed from my Abernathy ancestors, so I have no stories that aren't already published in the history books.

I hope your friend is pleased with your efforts on her behalf.
