Did you know of the Abernethys being connected to the royal lineage of Rothes? I have a friend who lives about an hour away who is the niece to Alexander Leslie Klieforth, a famous historian of his genealogy, which dates way back to the eleventh century where a dashing Hungarian knight named Barthoff (Bartholf?) distinguished himself before the King of Scotland, who granted him the title of Chamberlain, also granting him a piece of land between a 'lesseley' (grassland) and the sea, therefore the LESLIE Clan of Scotland, one of the most oldest and respected clans, was born. Today's Earl of Rothes is Ian Lionel Malcolm Leslie, and today's Countess is Marigold, Countess of Rothes. Lord Rothes' grandmother, Noëlle Lucy Martha Dyer Edwardes, was a survivor of the dreaded Titanic disaster and I have come to know much about the Leslies through learning about, in my opinion, history's greatest woman. (For more information on Noëlle, Countess of Rothes, please contact me). I just wondered if you knew that there was a connection between the Leslies and Abernethys, then again, that is rather obvious due to the fact of the Abernethys being another surname to the Leslies.
