I don't think this would be "my" Coleman Alexander, (bro/o Jos.T. Abernathy) as my 2 gr. gfa., Meth. Episc. Rev. Joseph Thomas Abernathy was b. 1/4/1824 in TN. In the 1850 Macon Co., AL census, Coleman, b. 1827 TN, was living with Rev. Joseph's, father, David Abernathy, b. c. 1790, NC, and wife Jane___unknown, b. c. 1789, SC.In the 1855 AL State Census, an Alexander Abernathy and his assumed wife was living near all my Abernathy's, and next to their allies, the Dobbs, Mobley, and Segrest families, there in Macon. Unfortunately, the AL Stare census did not include age & other details. My gr.gfa., Joseph Robert Alexander Abernathy, was b. in Coosa Co., AL in 1858, after the family moved there about 1855 or so. Rev. J.T. Abernathy was Minister at Andrews Chapel, Hanover, Coosa Co., AL until he died in 9/1859 of typhus. This family's DNA traces to Robert Abernathy, b. c. 1624, Scotland, to VA in 1652, and married Sarah Cubishe/Coppage,(or other variant spellings).
