Pennsylvania Dutch refers to German settlers in Pennsylvania, because Americans often misprounounced Deutsch (German) as dutch.
Also, many people of mixed Native American ancestry called themselves Black Dutch to avoid persecution.
Beck was a German name, (pronounced Peck)
