Previous information I had that Cynthia was a daughter of Jesse Allen was a second-hand penciled note, from I don't remember who.
Anyway, a new correspondent has sent me the following:
This is in a bio of Basil Evans Brown who married C.E. Sims (the daughter of Z.B. Sims and Mary Abercrombie [d/o James Abercrombie & Cynthia]. It was published in “ A Biographical Souvenir of Texas” ( Chicago: F.A. Battey & Co, 1889):
“ He (Basil Brown) was married to Miss C.E. Sims, January 29, 1867. She is a daughter of Z.B. and Mary (Abercrombie) Sims, who were both born in Abbeville district, South Carolina. Her maternal grandmother, Cynthia Abercrombie, was a daughter of Captain Jesse Allen, of the Revolutionary War, who came home at its conclusion riding a horse which he had captured after killing the British officer who was riding it”
Cynthia Allen was the second wife of James Abercrombie. By his unknown first wife he had eldest son James [b.1805] and 2 daughters, one of whom married Zimri Madden amd they were the parents of Issac A Madden living in his grandfather James Abercrombie's 1850 Talladega Co AL household.
