For your consideration: Abercrombie researchers will NOT find a James Abercrombie (born circa 1786 SC) in the 1820 census for SC because he had previously moved with his father (James, born circa 1760 SC) to GA. In 1820, James (1786) is shown in the 1820 Hall County, GA census with his four young children...NO adult female. His first wife had died shortly before the taking of said 1820 census. He subsequently married a second time to a Cynthia. They both died in Fannin County, Texas sometime after the taking of the 1860 Texas census. This James (born circa 1786 SC) is shown in said 1820 census as James Abbercrombie, Hall County, GA, Capt. Abbercrombie's District. His younger brother John is also shown in said 1820 census. I agree with you that James (1786) did have a son James (1805-1858). Said son James (1805) had a son James (1828). James (1828) is shown in the 1860 Federal Census, Oktibbeha County, MS. I am CERTAIN that your James (1786) is the son of James (1760) and the grandson of James (1740). Were you born in Texas? Thanks!
