Abercrombie Family Genealogy Forum

Please refer to my recent postings to this forum regarding the Abercrombie Family. Simply put, I am convinced that (1) the greater family of James Abercrombie did NOT migrate from the shores of SC (matter previously addressed) and (2) the mother of said James Abercrombie's children was NOT Hannah Pickard or any similar spelling variation, thereto. Abercrombie family researchers during the mid 1920s through the published 1959 "Martin Dial and Related Families" were of the opinion that said James Abercrombie was married twice and the mother of his children was his first wife...a Hannah Pickard. Although, I have found nothing that would indicate said James Abercrombie was married twice, I do feel strongly that said Hannah Pickard was NOT the mother of his children. The referenced "Martin Dial and Related Families" was extensive, but devoted less than two pages (233-234) to Abercrombie lineage. Respectfully, the author's comments regarding the Abercrombie lineage to the Dial family is incorrect. Having previously advanced my general reasoning, I would suggest that the husband of Chrystie Abercrombie (sister of Rebecca) and the father of her children was Richard Jowell...NOT Martin Dial. I would further suggest that said Richard/Chrystie's son, Gabriel Jowell, was the same Gabriel Jowell that married Chrystie Abercrombie, the daughter of James Abercrombie (1740-1819). Gabriel and his wife, Chrystie, were apparently first cousins and the married couple that brought suit against the estate of James Abercrombie (1740-1819). To be continued...
