My husband's mother's family descends from the Samuel Abell(1650-1/8/1697)
that was married to Susannah "Ann" Gardiner. I am probably the last person
have an answer for this considering the extensive work that seems
to have been done on this family, but was Samuel's father Capt. Robert Abell?
And is there any proof.....some have argued that his father is Richard....
but since the name Robert has echoed down through the branches and not
Richard, I have to believe it was Robert.....And if it was Robert,
any relation to the Massachusetts Robert that came with Winthrop??
