I am looking for information on Caleb Abell of Orange Co., VA. If I have all these deeds straight it appears his Mother was Jemmima Smith, a widow of an Abell who married sometime between 1791-1803 Ambrose Smith of Spotsylvania Co., VA he died in 1806, left his loving wife her dower ect. part of this was deeded to her son Caleb Abell. Her step son George Smith married a daughter of Caleb Abell. In 1811 John and Ambrose Smith brothers of George Smith sold their share of the dower estate to Caleb Abell who in turn Assigned his right and title over to Alexander Abell. On one of the deeds the Teste is listed as Caleb C. Abell and another document lists as a witness Sally Abell. I can be emailed at TLuchetta@aol.com
