A few years ago I checked all the Bishop's transcripts for Duntisbourne Abbots for Abel(l)s up to 1812. The only William that I found who was baptized anywhere near 1790 is William son of Robert and Dinah Abell bp 13 Sep 1784.I did not find any other William bp up to 1812. Are you sure that he was born in Duntisbourne Abbots - there are lots of Abels in Winstone, the neighbouring parish. If this is the right one, Robert was a son of Thomas and Comfort Abell, from whom I am also descended via the Haviland family of Winstone.
