Hello I have a book with quite a bit of info on this line. I bought it for the info on my ancestors (not ABELL). The ABELL line is an associated family so was included. The book is "THE HOFFMAN-MANNING-SIMMONS FAMILIES OF N.Y.". "George ABELL b.c.1561 resided in Stapenhill, Derby Co.,and in Hemington, Parish of Lockington, Leicester Co. On 08 Dec 1578, he enrolled at Brasenose College, Oxford at the age of 17. He was admitted to the Inner Temple in 1581. He married Frances COTTON. She was daughter of Richard COTTON of Combermere, Cheshire CO. and Jane SEYLYARD. Richard COTTON's will dated 08 September 1630, and proved 07 Feb 1631, named brothers Andrew COTTON of Combermere, Chester Co., gentleman, and George COTTON of same, Esq., executors. He was buried 13 Sept 1630. (Parish Register, Church of Lockington, Leicestershire, England.) Children of George ABELL and Francis COTTON (all born in England) 1. George 2. Robert, married Joanna 3. Richard 4. Mary Father of George ABELL: Robert ABELL, of Stapenhill and Ticknall, Derby Co, England. His will was dated 18 March 1587-88, and proved 17 May 1588. ..his son was: George ABELL b.ca.1561 Father of Robert ABELL: Robert ABELL, Esq., of Stapenhill, County of Derby, England was named in a deed of 1547, and in the will of his son, George 1696, of Ticknall, England. Name of wife not known. Children were: 1. Anthony of Ticknall, Derby Co. married Elizabeth 2. George of Newborough, Stafford Co., and Stapenhill, Derby Co., His wife was Ellen or Helen. 3. Robert of Stapenhill and Ticknall, Derby Co 4. Daughter - name unknown, married (last name ROYLE) 5. Anne of Nether Seale, Leicester Co., unmarried ..Hope this info has helped.
