The book by Horace and Lewis P. Abell, "The Abell
Family in America:..." isn't particularly complete
or accurate in its information about the Maryland
Abell family. That book was published in conjunction with the presumed 300th anniversary of
the Massachussets Abell family's arrival. The
authors and other related Abells formed an Abell Society and had regular meetings, mostly in California. Minutes of some of their meetings are available at historical libraries; I found copies at the Wisconsin State Historical Library
in Madison.

Genealogical libraries in Indiana and Kentucky
have information on the Maryland Abells who moved
west with the Maryland Company after the Revolutionary War. A very large branch of Abells
in Indiana are descended from Francis Abell, b.
1774 MD, d. Abt 1836, Crawford Co., IN. Many of
his descendants live in Southern IN near Jasper and English.

I reached IN via IL, where my ancestors arrived from KY in the mid 1850s. Other Abells reached IN from KY through the Lousiville gateway.

I have many records on MD, KY, IN, and IL Abells
and would gladly search them for connections.
