I have a copy of the book, "The Abell Family in America" by H.A. Abell and L.P. Abell.
The only reference it has to a Joseph Abell is this:
Joseph Abell, son of Caleb Abell and Mary Clark, b. Oct. 29, 1744; m. prob. May 2, 1765 Lydia Finney of Lebanon who d. 1767. Soldier of the Revolution in Capt. Jas. Clark's Co. and Capt. Walter Hyde's Co.
Sorry, can't find a Roger Abell who fits your request. It is interesting that they settled in Franklin, NY, as my line through Emory S. Abell, did also before moving west to South Dakota.
