Rochelle:

Thanks for responding. I don't have your William in my Abel clan but I do have other Williams, including myself. My folks went to Tennesse (Knoxville area) from South Carolina sometime between 1808 and 1825.

I found a William Abel in 1830 Carter County Tennesse with (2) males 0-5, (2) males 5-10, (1) male 30-40, (1) female 5-10, (1) female 10-15 and (1) female 30-40. Carter County is next to Johnson County. Could this be your William.

There were two Abel families that came to tennessee from Virginia. First, the family of Lewis (Ludwig) Abel and the other of Francis Abel. I believe they both came out of Wythe County, Virginia. Although both had a son named William, he doesn't fit yuor william's age profile.

Sorry I cannot be of more help. Good luck in your research.

Ernie Abel
