It is absolutely amazing how spread out the name ABEL appears all over the world, wit no appaent connections. My first ABEL in my Ahnentafel is Maria Anna Katharina Elisabetha ABEL, no idea where she came from, who married (date and time also unknown) the Gendarme Ferdinand WEIDER, and here is the first documentation - this couple had twins born on 12 March 1848 in Oberaulau, Oberhessen, the first named Maria Ottilie (Weider), her godmother was Maria Ottilie STOCK, nee WEIDER from Huenfeld, probably a sister of the father of the baby. The second twin was Margarethe Theresia (Weider), her godmother was Margarethe ABEL, daughter of farmer (Landwirt) Caspar ABEL of Oberufhausen. This godmother may have been a sister of the mother of which I have no other information. I sincerely hope that someone is able to help me with this brickwall.
