According to a dictionary of surnames:
Abbs, Abson, Abbison relate to "the son of Abraham" or "Abel" from Abb or Abbie (nicknames). This was a familiar Norfolk surname as Abbys or Abbes. Today it is familiar in the same county as Abbs.
