Julie: In 1873, James Long Abbs married Martha Ramsay in Gateshead. That's where the name Ramsay comes into the family. The Ramsays were of Scottish origin. This couple had several children in Durham, and, no doubt, the name Ramsay was passed down through them. Hope that helps. Regards, Mike Notify Administrator about this message?
