Andy, this may be a lead.

1860 census. Kingfield, Franklin Co, ME Louis H Abbott, 17, farm laborer in the family of Stephen Hollis.

1860 census. New Vineyard, Franklin Co, ME. Louis Abbott, 17, farm laborer in the family of Josiah Skillings.

Both censuses are dated 1 June 1860 but obviously they were taken only sometime around that time. I am betting this is the same Lewis "caught" in between censuses and in two different families as a farm laborer.

I will see what else I can find. You said he had sons John and Thomas. What was his wife's name and where did Lewis end up living? In ME?

Debbie
