I was just looking through the E-bay listings for family bibles and saw that there is a beautiful leather-bound bible with clasp that features the George Abbott family of Salem Co. New Jersey. The advertiser of the Bible didn't say which family or area it was from, but from the pages that are actually listed on e-bay, it was soon apparent it is the George Abbott family who immigrated to the US from England with his wife and sister in 1630. This bible picks up with George Abbott, son of William, who was son of William, who was son of George the immigrant. This George Abbott, and his wife Mary Redman and their children, their deaths, marriages and burials are recorded in beautiful script in this bible. It is a beautiful bible, and if it were only my Abbott family, I might think about bidding on it. But it is starting at $199.95. If you are interested in this family, it would definitely be of interest to view the auction and check out the handwritten pages. I am sure they will be useful to some Abbott genealogist and I would buy it even if it weren't my family if it were more affordable. My line begins for me with Richard from Ireland to VA, pre 1720.
