Abbott Family Genealogy Forum

Dear Larry, thank you for your prompt reply. You have nice websites. On brief examination, I did not find anything which looked familiar to me.
I know of the northern Abbotts who were wagon and carriage makers, but the link (if there is one) to the southern Abbotts is lost to us. If we only knew which Abbott up north sent that beautiful carriage to the southern Abbott before the Civil War, I think that would be a stupendous find.
It would also be marvelous if we could find a record documenting Jordan Abbott's parents. We have Jordan's tombstone in Abbott-Darracott cemetary in Monroe Co., MS. We know he lived 1777-1849. I am not certain whether he was born in NC or Ga at this point. I just got started, but one of our established family genealogists says that Jordan was a major in the War of 1812, and I believe he said that Jordan served at Fort Jackson (Savannah).
Thank you again for your prompt reply. Betsy
