Hi, Melody! I am the great-granddaughter of William Newton Abbey. His son, Orvil, was my grandpa. He had 6 children with my g-grandma, Phoebe Ellen Smith, but left her around 1903. They never divorced, he just ran away to Kansas. After he left, she said she received letters from him every once in a while. My mom said she remembers stopping by his house on a trip through Wichita sometime in the 40's. The family was on their way to California and looked him up. But when they got to the house, my grandpa refused to go in. He was 11 years old when his father left and he had definite father issues. I have a picture of William Newton Abbey and I would be happy to share. I also have a pic of his mom Sarah Pollard Abbey Cozart, who I heard through the family grapevine was a very evil woman. Please let me know if you have any info and let's share!
