Wow. Good luck with this! Here's what I've found on her.
Biographical Review of Leading Citizens of Cayuga County, New York 1894, pg 387, has a whole page on Maria Crouse Abby Clark. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nycayuga/biographical_review/cr.html
Apparently, she was married to Casper Abby, and had Harriet (known in our family as Hattie) on 11 Apr 1858, not 1848, possibly in Canada. Casper died in Fulton, Canada.
It also has plenty of information on Maria, but I still haven't been able to get past her, really. I do have a note from the article that her great-grandfather "Owned land 12 miles square at Poughkeepsie, NY; but at the time of the Revolution they lost it all." This was from the article.
