My family lived in & around Hull & York, the family were engaged in the fishing industry from the mid 1800s until the 1980s. My grandfather was a Skipper although, unfortunately, his death certificate erroneously describes him as a Master Mariner. I have details of an Edmond Abbey recorded in Pontefract (Yorkshire) Marriage bonds of 1830-1839 recording his marriage to Rebecca Putrill of Pontefract, Edmond Abbey's place of birth is recorded as Howden.
I belive also that we have other records of an Abbey in the Howden area but those records are not immediately to hand.
I hope the above is of interest.
Regards, Eric Abbey
