My name is Joseph Linden Abbet, Jr. (Joe). My great-grandfather was James Elmont Abbett, born in Meta Missouri on Sept. 17, 1889 and died in Bixby, Ok in 1988. He had a twin brother, William Freemont Abbett. James was said to be the 7th son of a 7th son. That would mean he had 6 older brothers and that his father had 6 older brothers. I believe his other brother’s names were Sy, Charles, Earl, Roscoe, Claud. I also have also found mention of John. According to James Elmont, he had a younger sister as well, who died as a young teen. His father’s name was Randolph Abbett who died in 1917 in Missouri. I am looking for any connections that would help me expand information on our Abbett heritage. As you can see, my name is spelled differently. We have conflicting stories within the last few generations as to how that came about. I also suspect that the spelling has changed other times over the generations.Could I be of any assistance to you? Could you be of any assistance to me? I am happy to share any and all of my information with you.
